Google Business Profile in Lebanon: Get on Maps

By Nour Chreif4 min read

A step-by-step guide to creating, verifying and optimizing your Google Business Profile in Lebanon, so customers find you on Google Search and Maps.

When people search for a business near them, Google usually shows a map with a few businesses at the top of the results. That spot depends on your Google Business Profile, a free listing that shows your name, location, hours, phone number, photos and reviews.

For many local businesses, a well-kept profile brings more calls than the website itself. Here is how to set it up properly in Lebanon.

1. Check whether a profile already exists

Before anything else, search for your business name on Google Maps. A customer, or Google itself, may already have created a listing. If you find one, choose the option to claim it instead of creating a duplicate. Duplicates confuse Google and split your reviews between them.

2. Create your profile

Go to google.com/business and sign in with a Google account that belongs to the business, not the personal account of an employee who might leave. Then:

  1. Enter your business name exactly as it appears on your sign and your website
  2. Choose your primary category
  3. Add your location, or a service area if you visit customers instead
  4. Add your phone number and website
  5. Request verification

Don't add keywords or city names to your business name. It breaks Google's guidelines and can get the profile suspended.

3. Get verified

Google decides which verification methods are available to you. Depending on your business, you may be asked to record a short video showing your location and signage, or to verify by phone, text message or email, and sometimes on a live video call. Follow the steps carefully: the video should show your street, your signage or business name, and proof that you run the place, such as opening the shop or showing your equipment.

Your profile won't appear properly in search until it is verified.

4. Pin your location precisely

Many addresses in Lebanon have no street number, and people give directions by nearby landmarks. That makes the map pin especially important. Drag it to your exact entrance, and use the address fields to add the building name, the floor and the nearest landmark if that is how customers find you.

If you work from home or visit your clients, hide your address and set a service area instead, such as Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

5. Choose the right categories

Your primary category has a big effect on which searches you appear in. Pick the most specific category that describes your main business, such as "Italian restaurant" rather than "Restaurant", then add a few secondary categories for other services you genuinely offer.

6. Fill in every field

A complete profile ranks better and attracts more customers. Make sure you add:

  • Opening hours, including holiday hours
  • A short description of what you do, in plain language
  • Your services or menu, with prices where possible
  • Attributes such as accessibility and payment options
  • Your website link, and a WhatsApp or phone number that someone actually answers

7. Add real photos

Profiles with good photos get more attention. Add your logo and a cover photo, then real pictures of your storefront, interior, team, products and work, because customers want to recognize the place when they arrive. Add new photos every month rather than uploading them all at once.

8. Build a steady flow of reviews

Reviews are one of the strongest signals for local ranking, and they are what customers read before they call. Ask every satisfied customer for one, and make it easy by sending your direct review link (you will find it in your profile, under the option to ask for reviews).

Reply to every review, good or bad, politely and quickly. Never buy reviews or offer rewards for positive ones: it breaks Google's policies and can get reviews removed or the profile restricted.

9. Keep it active

Use posts to share offers, events and news, answer the questions customers ask on your profile, and update your hours whenever they change. An active, accurate profile tells Google and customers that you are open and reliable.

10. Keep your details consistent everywhere

Your business name, address and phone number should be identical on your Google profile, your website, Facebook, Instagram and every business directory. Small differences make it harder for Google to know which details are correct.

The short version

Claim or create your profile, verify it, pin your exact location, pick a specific category, fill in every field, add real photos, ask every happy customer for a review, and keep your details consistent everywhere.
